Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet - Husky CD

$15.00
Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet came roaring out of Seattle in 2002, led by the infamous tenor saxophonist who founded bands like Critters Buggin' and The Dead Kenny G's while serving as an integral member of Les Claypool's Frog Brigade and Garage A Trois. The septet, which boasts a five-front horn line, delivers their long-awaited debut studio album, Husky, on Hyena Records. The collection, which was recorded at the legendary Sound Factory in Los Angeles, CA, was well worth the wait. ST7 conjure a gigantic sound, yet are equally capable of nimble, dancing harmonies that can be as refined and delicate one moment as they are muscular and bruising the next. They draw on elements of hip-hop and funk, while being equally inspired by the big band sounds of Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus. In its sum, Husky's cutting edge vision for composition, arrangement, improvisation and rhythm sets the standard for modern jazz in the 21st century.
