Erik Viel - Off The Beaten Path CD

$12.00
Erik Viel has compiled an impressive resume of musical credits in a wide variety of musical genres. With the release of his solo debut, Off the Beaten Path, the dynamic guitarist/songwriter is taking a bold step forward. Producing, arranging, performing and writing ten of the CD's thirteen selections, Erik has created a collection of unusual depth and breadth. Off the Beaten Path is an album written about the remote regions of our country and the people who reside within them - the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, the New River Gorge in West Virginia, the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, the Cascade Loop in Washington, the Badlands in South Dakota and the North Georgia Mountains. There are also powerful renditions of songs written by Gregg Allman, John Prine and Toy Caldwell.

Erik coins the musical style as "Southern Americana" - a mixture of rock, blues, folk and acoustic music. With its rough-edged Americana, memorable melodies, sly wit and instrumental chops, Off the Beaten Path serves as notice that Erik is once again expanding his musical horizons.

Erik's music has been compared to The Band, Little Feat, The Allman Brothers, and Stephen Stills.
